My swipe file

  • ROM - Learn how to sell a $15,000 gadget through a website. Wait 10 seconds and see the popup. By the way... this machine really works!

  • FreeThrow.com - Ghetto ass website. But people buy his stuff.

  • JumpUSA - Home of the Jump Soles - An online store that sells stuff by the boatloads. Notice the crappy, bland, dry... almost amateurish layout (sort of like my website). Learn from them.

  • Wendi - My favorite marketer online. Customer centric marketing and she's got a massive product line. You should get on her list and check out her marketing.

  • Joe Vitale's Mr Fire website - Joe can be a bit of a fruitcake... but his website is sticky and he's a fantastic marketer. A perfect example of polarization and speaking directly to a specific niche. There some great IM articles on his site.

  • www.elitemusiciansociety.com - The late Dick Grove - a legendary teacher. The original (hideous) website can be found at www.dickgrove.com. They sell a VERY high ticket home study course.

  • www.discount.perfectpitch.com - David L. Burge is a genius at making offers. It's hard to say "no". He's been selling this exact same course using the same ads since the early 1980's... and it's STILL going strong. Do a search on ebay for his courses and see how effectively he sells on there.

  • PlayPiano.com - Six things to look out for here:
    1. Crappy-looking, ghetto, amateurish website. You'd buy from him if you were the type of person he's going after.
    2. Look at Duane's product line! WOW!
    3. The human element. This guy is passionate about his subject and about teaching people. Reminds me of my piano teacher when I was 12 or 13 years old.
    4. He gives away quality content - videos, audios, etc in his autoresponders.
    5. He's not afraid of pricing his stuff aggressively... weeding out the wrong types of customers.
    6. See how he uses multimedia - audio, video etc to PROVE that he knows what he's talking about.

  • Bet Angel - The use of videos. This is a sticky website. I met Peter Webb in London last year. He drives a Lamborghini. Study his marketing.

  • Racing Traders - The use of videos. The HUMAN element. It's not immediately apparent because the website has to look professional because of the market he's selling to. But browse the website and checkout the videos and you will soon get a feeling that there's a real-live human being behind the whole thing. That's incredibly important. Read his newsletters.

  • www.citymax.com - How to sell in a highly competitive market space

  • Rob Booker - The human element. He's built a great reputation (of results) in a market full of charlatans. Look at the photos from his "live training" workshops on the website. Lots of pictures of smiling faces and people doing human things... like eating and working. I stole the idea for my old 1-on-1 training program from him.

  • www.megalaser.com - I like the layout.

  • www.drnatura.com - Click on the testimonials tab. THAT's how you use testimonials. You'd be hard pressed to find a more compelling website on the internet.

WARNING: There are a few photos on this website that are absolutely disgusting, so be careful. lol.

  • Pherlure - CORNY! BUT... it sells. Hundreds upon hundreds of bottles of goo per month. Do you know WHY? Because they connect with the people they're selling to. hmmm... I wonder if it works?

  • Profitunity - How on earth can this annoying website sell a $3,400 tapeset and a $6,000 seminar? You figure it out... there's a lot going on behind the scenes (i.e. off the website). This guy is an institution.

  • www.babypips.com - This is how content websites (aka adsense websites) should look.

  • Systematic poker - This is a very effective website. You should look around and see how this guy uses a blog to sell an information product. He setup 2 challenges for himself and then tracked his daily profits and losses to the blog. Basically, he demonstrates how his product performs. No hard selling, no hype.

  • Simpleology - Chances are you already know about this one. If not, sign up now and go through the program. It's free and it will give you a massive boost! From a marketing point of view... See how Mark Joyner makes you a deal you cannot refuse. Brilliant, simple, effective marketing that you can copy.

  • Tribal Football - The least credible, but the most read independent soccer news website online. Their headlines are seriously effective. Wicked. They consistently outpull mainstream websites like the BBC in readership for the same stories on headline syndication services like newsnow.co.uk.

These Aussies are masters of spin... right up there with Fox news and Bill O' Reilly. Consider them the National Enquirer of football. TIP: You can do this in your niche and make a nice chunk of change by being overtly controversial. Don't take that tip lightly.

  • cdbaby - Buy a CD from them and see the follow up emails. Great marketing! If nothing else... browse the website and see how they use audio. Listen to the samples. BONUS: Here's a good one, there's a story on every track. Listen to the story halfway through the song on the second track. That's a good example of how to tell a story. You should tell stories in your marketing.
  • Along those lines... download iTunes and browse the store. I waste HOURS on itunes listening to samples. Also checkout Rhapsody. The key lesson here is... again - make it sticky!

  • Santa Fe Workshops - Get their catelog. They sell expensive workshops.
